Red Dead Redemption 2
If you’re wondering if Red Dead Redemption 2 is any good, the answer is yes, this game definitely deserves its place on the shelf next to GTA V, The Witcher 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. But Rockstar did not release “GTA about the Wild West”, as you might think from the trailers. We are faced with a much less entertaining project: RDR2 – rather a portrait of the era and “encyclopedia of American life,” if you will. And this positioning is very risky: the audience of such a game will certainly be less than that of the cheerful everyday life of car thieves.
At the center of the narrative is Arthur Morgan, who simultaneously looks like Max Payne from the third game and Michael from GTA V. He is one of the best shooters of the famous Dutch gang, which is going through hard times after a failed heist: the bandits are on the run, the pinkertons and rivals are stepping on their heels. In fact, the gang is a tabor that wanders from place to place and tries to make money by all available means: theft, robbery, usury, fraud and, of course, buying and selling stolen goods. And this is not such grateful work: half of the earnings still goes into the pockets of the ringleader.
But do not think that the tabor – just a social hub: Rockstar really invested colossal resources in the development of the camp, and it is not inhabited by dummies-NPC on the same quest, and elaborated characters with their own characters, habits and lifestyles. It is worth passing the next mission, and everyone will start to comment on its results. Or argue about something new. Or discuss the dog that got nailed. Repeated from such background conversations except for the songs that the Taborians love to chant on long summer evenings, so it is always interesting to wander around the camp.
